Sean Whitaker reflected on his hesitation before trying the café, only to be won over by the omelet and fresh atmosphere. The mix of satisfying, hearty options alongside lighter fare like the Blue Jay’s Breakfast featuring maplenut granola offers something for every appetite.
The café’s location near the Eugene Amtrak station adds an element of charm—diners can enjoy the lively backdrop of freight trains passing by while seated outdoors, as noted by Shambavi Krishnamurthi. Despite the lively environment, the friendly and attentive staff maintain a calm and welcoming vibe that keeps the energy positive even during Eugene’s marathon weekends or busy brunch hours.
While some critics mention occasional noise levels or the complexity of certain dishes, these nuances are overshadowed by the overall satisfaction customers feel from the fresh, thoughtfully prepared food and inviting setting. I’ll start by saying if I had looked at the menu before coming I might have said no thank you. I’m a sausage and bacon kind of guy and it was breakfast time. I’m very happy to say I’m glad I didn’t poohpooh this place! It was summer and it was busy. They have a lot of servers, so you are never without coffee and water refills. The menu? They are vegetarian or vegan. Everything. But I had an omelette with “soysauge” and it was absolutely delicious! Came with roasted potatoes on the side. Wife had waffles with fruit overflowing them and they were also delicious. Turns out, I’m happy and surprised to say I definitely would recommend. Very reasonably priced as well. They only do breakfast and lunch, just a side note.
I’m no vegetarian, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I ordered the French toast and was delighted to see that my plate was abundantly decorated with 6 large slices, all subtly dressed in a luscious strawberry purée. Well decorated, quaint and delightsome. The only problem with the atmosphere was the noise level, my headache was ever growing, but the food kept my head clear.
Super affordable which automatically gives Morning Glory a good start. The “shredded potato shell” is hash browns with extra steps. They didn’t elevate the dish and made it a bit harder to find/create good bites. Over rated. Overall, tasty and filling for the price point. During a busy brunch rush, I noticed many tables sat open for long stretches as we were waiting to be seated, so the wait was certainly longer than it needed to be.
Side of the spiced tempeh was our absolute favorite. French toast and the morning glory sandwich were delicious too. Loved that I could skip the sweetener for the chai. The staff were attentive and extremely kind. Even on a busy Eugene marathon weekend they remained cheerful. If you get an outdoor seat and you're lucky, you could watch freight trains pass by the Eugene Amtrak station
So charming. By the train station. And every item in the pastry case is vegan. Had the three something omelette with pico and vegan butter bc craving green chile and it was delicious, loaded with seasoned potatoes and a side of sourdough toast. Wish I had asked for salsa or more pico. Ordered ahead bc I had a meeting and it was ready for pick up when I got there. Also didn't resist the pumpkin bread calling to me from the case. It was satisfyingly moist and so flavorful. Could it be anymore perfect? I think not.
Cute diner with friendly service and atmosphere. Vegetarian with a lot of vegan options. They have a wonderful mushroom gravy and always use fresh, quality ingredients. This morning we had the Belgian waffles with fruit and the morning medley (sram led eggs and herbed roasted potatoes (Yum!) and toast with a side of avocado. Everything was really tasty- and generous portions- except our Belgian waffles arrived cold. It’s a reasonably priced, family-friendly, and charming spot to eat.
Second time here. Difficult to choose because it all sounds good. I love being able to get a tofu dish that I didn't fix myself. This also gives me ideas to try at home. Last time, I found the bakery items too sweet for my taste. Today I had a slice of banana bread with my entree (vs a roll or biscuit). They served it toasted with vegan butter-- it was amazing!! My friend had their unique version of an omelet that uses hash brown potatoes, and loved her dill roll with vegan butter.
One of my favorite spots in Eugene. I ate eat here with my family every time they come to town. Wonderful vegan and gluten free options. Wait times can be long so I usually get here before 9am and it’s not too bad.
